<The Wari people expanded to the Nasca region quite rapidly due to its geographic closeness and ancient cultural relationships between these two adjoining regions. Huaca del Loro [Parrot's sanctuary] and Pacheco are two important Wari sites of the Nasca region, as is Maymi is for the Pisco Valley and Pampa de la Pelota for the Chincha Valley.

It seems that the maximum exploitation of the ground water of the Nasca drainage through the aqueduct system was during the Wari epoch.>

<Wari in Ica (600-1,000 A.C.)

Approximately in the year 600 A.C. the Ayacucho region was the birthplace of the Wari society, a new urban state formation where the city was the center of all social, politic and economic organization. In a very short time, this new complex society imposed its production, cultural patterns and urban plan over a great of the Central Andean area. This sort of imperial expansion lead to the establishment of cities and regional administrative centers dependent of the city capital.

From the cultural point of view, the Wari state emerged from the junction of Nasca and Tiahuanaco influences on the Huarpa society of Ayacucho. This is clearly noted in the decorative techniques and iconography of fabrics, ceramic vessels and other artifacts produced by the highlanders.>
